RiverBend is an active community filled with young-acting retirees (and some who only wish they were retired) who spend time at RiverBend relaxing and playing with fellow residents who quickly become their friends.

Our full time activities director, Lee Conwell, makes it her business to organize a multitude of activities to keep our residents busy and happy.  

Whether you start your day at the “Circle of Knowledge” (coffee & chatting), exercising together “Walking off the Pounds”, taking a swim or taking a walk around the resort you will know that your choices are many.

Some groups in which you may want to participate include: the book club, knitting group (Chix with Stix), crafts, model train club, quilting, yoga, line dancing & water aerobics.  Each week there are Bocce Ball matches, Shuffleboard competitions and men’s and women’s Pool Shootouts in our pool room.

If you own a motorcycle you will not have to wonder if you will be welcomed at RiverBend.   Many residents own motorcycles and there is at least one organized ride a week.   You will have no trouble finding someone to ride with if that’s your passion.

There is a large group of golfers in the resort.   There is organized league play on Wednesdays but MANY find the time to play a few more times during the week.

There is a group of residents whose passion is kayaking.   They have organized outings together to share a day on the water.  

The lesson is; bring your toys and have fun with some new friends.

With all of these activities you are sure to work up a healthy appetite.   Luckily, RiverBend has a wonderful restaurant run by owners, Bob & Sandy Shuler.   The Shuler’s prepare homemade soups, sandwiches and other tasty dishes from the freshest ingredients they can find to be served at lunch. They have a wonderful group of volunteers that help serve the meals.   Whether you want to volunteer or relax on the deck with your delicious sandwich watching the river flow by - you will not want to miss lunches at RiverBend!

Our energetic Lee organizes special events that take place at “Benders”, the RiverBend bar overlooking the beautiful Caloosahatchee River.   Every Wednesday there are hot dogs (Big Boys) or pizza at the bar along with live entertainment.   On Mondays you can participate in a pot luck dinner followed by Bingo in the dining room or Dominos in the bar.

Several times during the season we have special events with an evening of entertainment, dinner & dancing.   Once in a while even Elvis shows up.   These events have quickly become so popular that the “veterans” know that you must sign up early to be assured a place.

Special Event parties start with a Halloween Party, then on to a wonderful Thanksgiving meal, then a Christmas Eve party with a secret Santa, Christmas Day dinner, and a FABULOUS New Year’s Eve party.
